Last week I dreamt
Of fields so green
Of flowers yellow,
Pink, white and purple
Things are bright, happy
Birds sing their agreement
Winking sun plays peek-a-boo
With puffy cotton clouds
Then the fields turned red
The happy colors gone
Screaming as they faded to death
A sky dark as steel wool
Held the sunshine hostage
I tried to grab as many flowers
That I could carry
Running off to safety
I turned to the tall trees
Asked for their ears
Their help to stop the blood
They merely pulled their roots
From the red soaked ground
Seeking higher ground
I weep as pink and yellow,
Green, purple and white
Died in my arms
